Johan Eidhagen, Chief Marketing Officer at Wizz Air said: “As the leading airline in Romania for more than a decade we are continuously looking to best meet out costumers’ needs by providing the lowest fares, greater connectivity and excellent service on board. Today we bring more good news for our customers from Transylvania region, underlining once again Wizz Air’s commitment to Romania. We continue our investment in the region with the addition of a second Airbus A320 which will join our Sibiu fleet in June 2018, launching 5 new routes available from Sibiu as well as increase the weekly frequencies on the most 4 popular services. We continue to create great benefits for the local community by creating new jobs, further stimulating the regional economy as well as the inbound tourism, as Sibiu’s tourism sector has developed remarkably in the past year. Starting summer 2018, WIZZ will offer 11 routes to 8 countries from Sibiu and the whole WIZZ team looks forward to welcoming our passengers on board to any of the long-awaited routes to Paris, Frankfurt Hahn, Basel, Brussels Charleroi and Copenhagen.”
Daniela Cîmpean, President of Sibiu County Council said: “The new air routes launched today represent important connections that contribute to the economic development of our county and region. They allow those of us living in Sibiu to travel quicker and more comfortably to different parts of Europe. New opportunities open up for establishing economic relations with more countries, while further gates are being created in countries with whom we have a long-standing cooperation. This is a great advantage for Sibiu as a tourist destination and a strategic step in the context of the events taking place in Sibiu in 2019. I would like to thank the Wizz Air officials for choosing Sibiu International Airport for opening of new air routes and for hosting a new aircraft. I wish them to carry on the good business in Sibiu.”
Gabriel Tischer, President of Sibiu International Airport Board of Administration said: “Sibiu International Airport and Wizz Air are associates in a concerted effort that deliver effective and visible outcomes, with sustainable benefits for the entire community and with a significant impact in developing the local economy. A new based aircraft at Sibiu International Airport represents a liability of connecting Sibiu city to important cities in Europe.”
Marius Ioan Gîrdea, Sibiu International Airport General Manager said: “Sibiu’s International Airport route network has recently seen particular dynamics. The results we mark today are based on a continuous approach of air operators and on the constant efforts of Sibiu Airport team, on the basic of specific and realistic proposals. We will continue these steps that Wizz Air today confirms, from this point on, being a relevant milestone in terms of airport development potential. In my opinion, by launching these new routes we respond positively to the appeal of the community we serve.”
